Gay Civil Partnerships Blog
Weclome to the new blog, from www.gayfinance.info, dedicated to discussions and developments during the implementation of the UK Civil Partnership Act aimed at recognising the rights of same-sex couples.
The Civil Partnership Bill became law in the UK on 18 November 2004, but will not be fully implemented until the end of 2005 at the earliest.
Despite giving rights to gay and lesbian couples in many aspects of day-to-day life together, certain key rights have not yet been finalised - for example the rules for same-sex couples for Inheritance Tax will not be published until the 2005 Finance Bill.
Therefore, during the implementation phase it is vital that the gay and lesbian community keep this issue to the fore and that we all keep a very careful eye on developments!
Together with the web site at www.gay-partnership-rights.info , this blog encourages you to contribute your thoughts and concerns throughout 2005.
If you have any questions, please email me.
We look forward to an interesting debate.
